I have always wanted angels like that since I was a kid. So thanks for the wicked way to make my small kid dream come true.

I did a variation on the theme, in that I started with a blank ceramic angel...no paint or anything to worry about...the dove the angel was holding already had no head, so I just ran with it...>3

Will post pics when I go home.

I bought a couple angels last night at the Dollar store, now I gotta get the paint.  I was hoping to find an angel tree topper but no luck on that.

Oh, that would be so cool!

Hubby tells me Walgreens has clear acrylic angel "decor lamps."  We're trying to figure out how to make one of those into a glowing-bones Death.  How would you keep your brush strokes from showing in the backlight?

That might work.

The lamp would be a nice twist.

I have all my supplies, now for the painting!  I have one question.  I bought several angels that I liked and my well meaning sister bought me a couple I'm not so keen on.  They are sort of precious moments esk and all have halos.  The ones I got didn't and I don't think the ones that Carin did either.  Should I pretend the halo isn't there or try to make it look like a bandana or what?  Any ideas?

Personally, I've always thought that what halos really need are just a bit of barbed wire.

Actually, the angel with the roses had a wire halo stuck in her head originally.  I was able to twist it loose, then I puttied the small hole it left with some wood filler, let it dry, and sanded it to match the lines in her hair.  Then, it was spray paintin' time!

I've even used the wood putty to fill in and build up a chunk that broke out of another angel's floofy skirts.  It works fine, if you're patient enough to let it dry thoroughly before trying to sand it.

These halos are part of the cerramic head.  No pulling them off.  I might be able to build up the hair around the halos though.  I will have to go hunting for my wood putty.  Do  you think the plaster stuff for drywalls would work instead?  I have a five gallon bucket sitting in my bedroom.

I don't know about plaster for drywall, but get out a hunk of cardboard for a practice board, your plaster, and whatever tools you have, and see what you can do on the board.  If that looks promising, have a go at one of the angels.

But really, death is sacred, too.  If it were me, I'd paint the haloes to suit the subject matter.  I love the barbed wire idea, and it'd be easy to paint with your 18/0 round brush.

Hee, Precious Death.  I want to see pictures when they're done!

I'm going to try them this weekend so I will post when I'm done.  I'm NOT a painter so they may be a little wonky.

You will be up here??  I promise not to plaster you into my walls!! They are pretty thin walls anyway, I don't think I could even get a 80 lb. supermodel in them.
