Las Calacas Danzantes
« on: October 25, 2008, 12:38:04 PM »
Knitting these socks is so satisfying it is worth persevering. The colour work is easy enough, just strand loosely BUT the gauge can be a killer. There are times when you stop and think.....Am I getting this totally right?

If you want to speak to someone who has knitted these socks before, or you have knitted them and want to give encouragement to others then stick up yer posts  here.

I designed them, so if you are not enjoying them blame me, curse at me, then let me know what your troubles are and I will soothe them away with some advice and get you knitting a perfect pair of colour stranded socks.

However, if you are a stranded sock knitter extraordinaire, then brag about it and  post yer piccies and links so we can all admire them[/color]

Started these in june; wanted knee socks for an adventurous daughter.  Did much ripping until I was convinced the skeleton would be better served if worked in duplicate stitch, but stranded the hat.  Worked the ribbing very tight (size 1), the hat area very loosely(3's), and the rest of the sock on 2's.  Lion Brand MicroSpun (worsted weight) for ribbing, heel, and toe (strength and stability), and Red Heart Heart&Sole self-striping sock yarn for beauty and comfort.  So many compliments during the construction.  Will finish by ? and maybe I'll figure out how to post photo by then.  Thank you for a beautiful project with OUTSTANDING directions.

Glad you progressed with the socks....now I would have done the opposite. If I was duplicate stitching, I would have duped the hats and cherries but I would have knitted all of the skellies...not sure if skellies in dupe works as there is so much of them.
Let's see how you got on?
