Socks For The Glorious Liberation Of The People's Technocratic Republic...
Corvus_Alatus:
(reviving this)
So, i had issues with fit, frogged, reknit, frogged, reknit again, and then decided to work it upside down. A looooong time ago.
I finished one sock, and it fits perfectly, but the second languished forever, moving from my desk, across the altar, to sit next to the stash, then rolled back across the altar, and back onto my desk, and finally into my hands tonight. And got frogged (there was only about two inches of sock, so it's not that big a deal). And re-started. I've got about half an inch of ribbing done so far.
My modified version, like i said, is upside down. Worked from the cuff down, i have an inch of ribbing before i start the chart, i do a slip-stitch heel flap and a wedge toe. The biggest obvious difference though, is my twists/leaves run upside down--they go up the sock instead of down, looking more like a stack of eyes than hanging leaves. This is because i'm reading the chart "as is." I'm sure there's some way the chart could be flipped for top-down knitting to have the same results as the original toe-ups, but i'm not doing that for this pair. Maybe the next, if i feel like it (and don't bother to finally figure toe-up construction out in a way i like). But i am still loving these socks.
And because i've got a pile of UFOs in various states of completion or near completion, i'm trying to turn them into FO--so i can create a whole new pile of UFOs. *lol*
