So, our final surprise for this issue is up. Yes, you are all clamoring to know why it wasn't ready yesterday for Solstice. Because it's not for Solstice. It's for those who worship at the altar of Santa Claus. Because it's our magazine and we can do whatever the hell we want.
Behold:

Erssie described this project best herself: Inspired by the brightly colored skulls made for Dia De Los Muertos, these little Calaveritas can be knitted onto small or medium sized bags. The bags are ideal as charm bags, or perhaps can be filled with herbs like lavender which I am doing to expel moths from the woollies in my wardrobe. They would also make perfect Rune bags. As the bag only takes a few hours to make, you could also use it as special gift bags or a candy pouch for next Halloween.

Pan de Muertos is a traditional orange-and-anise loaf to make this time of year, and believe us when we say it's delicious. (Zabet doesn't even like anise [black licorice] and even she found it tasty!) But what better way to Americanize a tradition than to load it down with sugar and saturated fat? Raellyn Hatter took Pan de Muertos to a new level of yumminess for our cupcake-obsessed readership with her orange-and-anise cupcakes, Magdalenas de Muertos. All of the flavor, none of the hard work. Isn't that the American way?

In traditional fashion, the Angstylvanian government has failed to meet international deadlines for its athletes to officially compete in the 2008 Ravelympics. Athletes are encouraged to register with an official Ravelympics team if they want to compete for whatever it is that the Ravelympics is offering. However, Angstylvanian athletes can still indicate to their government that they are participating (on another team or not) by joining the Team Angstylvania Ravelry group, and their government promises to reward a random finishing athlete with whatever they can scrape up by the time the Ravelympics ends.
Register with the Department of Overexerting Oneself by joining our Ravelry group:
