Friends of the Discworld

If you don't already know, Terry Pratchett, creator of the Discworld and beloved author of more than 30 books set therein (as well as many books set thereout), has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. If you've read Pratchett, we don't need to explain what an especially cruel fate this is for a man with such a sharp mind.

Pratchett recently donated £500,000 (that's about US$1 million) to Alzheimer's research, and his fans have now challenged themselves to match his contribution. If you would like take part, please visit Match It For Pratchett for details on how to donate via PayPal.

Lisa M. Tyler Memorial Scholarship Fund

Last November, New York teenager Lisa Tyler was shot and killed by her boyfriend Shane Katen, who later committed suicide.

Lisa's family and friends have established a scholarship fund in her memory. They are looking for donations of items that can be raffled off or placed in gift baskets.

For AntiCraft Knitters in Toronto
